Ms Fernando Magarzo is the Deputy Director General of AUTOCONTROL, the Spanish Advertising Self-Regulatory Organisation. Previously she served as EASA’s Vice-Chair for four years. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the European Digital Interactive Advertising Alliance (EDAA) and a Director of the Board of Confianza Online (Spanish Online Trust Seal). Ms Fernando Magarzo holds a Doctor in Law and has been a Professor of Commercial Law at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid for 15 years. She is the author of many doctrinal and journal articles about Intellectual Property, Unfair Commercial Practices and Advertising Law. She has participated in several forums and seminars and is a guest lecturer on various Postgraduate and Master courses at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), Instituto de Empresa (IE), University of Alicante (UA) and University of León (ULE). She takes over the Chairmanship of EASA from Stéphane Martin, Director General, ARPP.
In her speech, Ms Fernando Magarzo stated that she will focus on advertising technological and digital developments, responsibility focused on aspects such as minors´ protection, sustainability, diversity and inclusion, transparency and privacy as well as harmonising SR developments in a globalised world.
“The sustainability and success of EASA and the SROs in the future requires us to be able to understand the changes that advertising is currently undergoing,” said Charo Fernando Magarzo.
The Chair is supported by two Vice-Chairs and a Treasurer. The elected officers who will work alongside Ms Fernando Magarzo are Angela Mills Wade, Executive Director, EPC, Conor Murray, Director Regulatory Public Affairs, Egta and Orla Twomey, Chief Executive, ASAI.
